William G. Knight, ICD.D
William (Bill) Knight, ICD.D is the President of Hebb, Knight and Associates, a consulting firm based in Canada.
Mr. Knight has extensive experience in the financial services industry. From 2001 to 2006, he was the first Commissioner for the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada. His mandate was to oversee the $3.24 trillion-dollar financial service's sector market conduct. He received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for excellence in Public Service on behalf of Canada.
Prior to the Agency, he was the President and CEO of Credit Union Central of Canada where he undertook a number of strategic initiatives, to position credit unions competitively to the banks.
In the early 70s, Mr. Knight distinguished himself as one of the youngest Members of Parliament when he was elected to the House of Commons.
He is a member of a number of corporate and volunteer boards including the Vancity Community Investment Bank of Canada, the Advisory Investment Committee of the Atkinson Foundation, the Broadbent Institute, and Tree Canada, Citizens Bank of Canada, the Canada Guaranty Mortgage Insurance Company, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre, the Canadian Association of former Parliamentarians Educational Foundation and the Consumer Advisory board to the Irish Central Bank.
Mr. Knight is a graduate of the director's course at the Institute of Corporate Directors through the University of Toronto.
Mr. Knight was elected to the Board of Directors of Assuris in 2011.
